What ‘Magic, Supernaturalism and Religion’ offers is nothing less than a concentrated and dense history of the weird extremes of Western human belief over the centuries. While Seligmann’s history is impressive, clearly written, informative and surprisingly nonjudgmental, it’s the illustrations that kick this book into a unique category.
